I am new to computers and forums but here is my question. I love this particular sudoku format/programme and lost it when I moved to Ubuntu Feisty Fawn. Is it available under Linux or is there a similar one available. Otherwise I will have to load it onto an old Win 95 machine . Thanks manshar |

The one by Angus Johnson "Simple Sudoku" at It has the "candidates" displayed if necessary, has hints and most importantly it doesn't generate unsolvable or multiple solution puzzles. Manshar He also explains alot like X-wings etc. The few programs that I have used in linux are pretty bare bones and the one that came with Fiesty fawn generates unsolvable puzzles.Very frustrating but hey. |

Hi,
If you still visit this site, then you may find a small program I am working on interesting. It does marking up of candidates, and will generate valid puzzles only, using locked candidates, naked pairs, trips and quads, hidden pairs trips and quads, 2-fish, 3-fish, 4-fish, xyz-wing, xy-chain, forced chains and nishio.
It is written in basic, and runs on both Windows and Linux (I use Ubuntu 7.10). I may add more solving techniques as I understand them. I am enjoying the puzzles posted by wapati in this forum and am learning new techniques from them.
My web site has a compiled version for Ununtu.
