Sudoku is a research project that uses Internet-connected computers to search for the smallest possible start configuration of Sudoku. You can participate by downloading and running a free program on your computer.

While acknowledging the likely good intent of this project, I personally would strongly caution anyone considering downloading, installing and running an 'internet connected' closed source program from a relatively unknown source.
While the risk of a 'backdoor' trojan is small, the potential damage to both the 'infected' computer and the internet in general is enormous. Also, the risks of 'back door' trojans hidden in 'internet connected' programs are significantly greater than other programs (that don't regularly connect to the internet) simply because it's easier to hide nefarious data amongst legitimate data. |
