|

Hi there, I have read these boards alot but have just registered today. I have SS version 4.1z.
Maybe I just don't understand the concept of coloring: Here's my grid (only the 5s candidates are shown):
xxx|xxx|xxx
xxx|xxx|xxx
xxx|xxx|xxx
---------------
55x|xxx|xxx
xxx|5xx|5xx
xxx|5xx|xx5
---------------
5xx|xxx|5xx
xxx|xxx|xxx
x5x|xxx|5x5
SS won't let me eliminate the bold 5 (R9C7) as a candidate. Why not?
Thanks in advance for your help!

When colors are applied, 2 chains can be formed (A-B) and (C-D)
Code: | xxx|xxx|xxx
xxx|xxx|xxx
xxx|xxx|xxx
-----------
ABx|xxx|xxx
xxx|Cxx|Dxx
xxx|Dxx|xxC
-----------
Bxx|xxx|Axx
xxx|xxx|xxx
xAx|xxx|5xD |
There is no reason why the candidate in R9C7 should be eliminated.

Why don't you post the code for the actual puzzle. There may be something you are missing in the puzzle (like another 5 elsewhere). _________________ LB |
