I've sort of just started sudoku and I can do simple sudokus quite easily. I've tried to read about "XY-wing" and "swordfish" but I'm not really understanding it. Is there a good site that will help me progress step by step and eventually get to and understand these steps? |

Hi,
I have build an special feature in my own program for this: the practice mode. You can choose any technique and it will create a puzzle where the first step you will have to take is that tachnique. It also comes with documentation and a fearly advanced visual hint system with lines, colors and text. You can even cut/paste the puzzles from/to any other solver if you like.
The program is downloadable here:
Into Sudoku
You find the practice mode in the menu: file-new-practice
Techniques the program fully support are:
SingleInBox
SingleInRow
SingleInCol
Naked Single
PointingPair
BoxLineReduction
NakedPair
NakedTriple
NakedQuad
HiddenPair
HiddenTriple
HiddenQuad
RemotePair
X-Wing
SwordFish
Empty Rectangles
Color
MultiColor
XY-Wing
XYZ-Wing
Bug removal
Unique Rectangle 1
Unique Rectangle 2
Unique Rectangle 3
Unique Rectangle 4
Nice Loops
Double implication Chain
Triple implication Chain
Trial & Error
