A sudoku is n^2 x n^2, where n is the box size.

the (plain) SuDoku is a square,
but the box is not necessarily a square

i disagree -- a plain SuDoku can have non-square boxes.
the box-size of 3 x 3 is the usual -- and the best in my opinion.
(Pappocom calls it the "classic" SuDoku.)

Jigsaw sudoku has 9 non square regions, I can't call it plain sudoku...

To me, Nine 3*3 boxes added as constraints on top of a 9*9 Latin square grid Result in a vanilla sudoku, anything else is a sudoku variant.

I had a look at the table, but there something I do not understand ...

What are trying to do here .... Is it to generate a FULL grid with special properties or is it the actual puzzle & for us to fill the blanks ?

You said the ANY 4 columns or ANY 4 rows should have a repeated number .....
but r1 c10,11,12,13 are different

I guess Pat meant square or rectangular boxes, not jigsaw
eg 2x3, 2x4, 3x4...

yes
and many thanks
i was so busy being negative,
that i never did spell out what i meant

      in plain SuDoku,
the box is a rectangle of m rows by n columns,
      each at least 2

I need help about finding its patterns, so I can fill in the columns 1-20 for the rows 351,352,etc (meanwhile, ignore the columns 21-284 to make it simpler). As I said sometimes this may not happen indeed.
Thx.
