I just downloaded simple sudoku and I'm having a problem clearing a cell unless it is the LAST cell in which I entered a number. This is what happens: I realize I need to change a number in a cell from a couple of cells back. I click on that cell. I try using the space key to clear the number. Nothing. I try using undo to clear the number. Nothing happens to the clicked (highlighted?) cell BUT the number in the last cell where I entered a number is cleared. How do I clear a number in a cell that is NOT the last cell where I entered a number?
Also, I can use the colors for whatever purpose I choose, right? Like I can make the cells I'm not certain of pink (or blue or whatever) to distinguish those cells from the cells I feel sure of? |

That's because you're likely to get into a bigger mess if you don't also undo subsequent changes since the logic for subsequent 'moves' could well be predicated on the invalid state. You can only 'undo' in order.

Let me explain a bit more. Sometimes I want to turn off everything and solve the puzzle like I would if it were printed out. That means that down the road I find out things aren't working out and that somewhere -- somewhere -- I've made a mistake. I need to be able to clear cells and try new numbers to figure out WHERE I screwed up. In order to do that, I need to be able to clear cells prior to the last work I just did. So I really do want to be able to clear prior cells. Really. So, how do I do it?[/quote] |

Please support editing cells directly. Simple Sudoku is one of the best Sudoku games available, but it is kind of annoying if you are forced to undo almost everything you entered, if you want to change one of the first numbers you entered.
Hints or predictions for subsequent moves should be calculated newly with each move anyway. Mostly I do need that anyway, I could even live without undo functionality. |
