After being promptly helped by this forum yesterday on a SS problem I thought I'd throw this in - if it creates some interest then that's fine - if it doesn't that's still OK
With severe water restrictions in Victoria, including Melbourne and suburbs, the use of sprinklers is banned for domestic use with hand held hoses only being permitted at specified times. Unless the hose is a fancy re-tracticable one or wound on a hose reel, the inevitable battle usually arises when trying to re-wind the hose to hang on the wall bracket or somewhere else.
This is a tip which I've read and tried and it does work. If a hose is fully stretched out in a reasonably straight line on the ground and left for a day or two in the sun, the hose has an in-built memory and will automatically twist itself to eliminate those "kinks" which causes the problem of difficult re-winding. That coloured green "line" you see along the full length of most hoses isn't there for fun but lets you know when the "line" is fairly straight which allows your hose to be wound up easier.
Over a period of time the hose may again become twisted which requires the above procedure to be repeated for easier re-winding.
