Jan 2010 - Updated the game to remove a couple of minor bugs, improve the help text and added more reward animations.

I still play this almost every day and my ability to spot Wings and to perform Coloring techniques are much improved . I use the "Filtering by Conjugate Pair Chains" and "Filtering by Chain Length" almost as much as I use the simple candidate filtering. This is "Simple Suduko" on steroids Very Happy

The solver can be found at (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?tnw1kjr2wwu)

Hi puzzler,

thanks for the nice program! One thing is strange though: The "Naked xxx" filters sometimes highlight cells that are not in the same house.

Thanks Hobiwan. I'm pleased you like the game.

The idea behind Chain Filtering was to try to help detect XY and XYZ wings, which are, really, naked XXXs that occur across houses.

Each time you click the button it shows cells that might possibly form a naked xxx. It cycles through all occurrences/combinations of these cells.

In a grid with a lot of candidates, it may not be as helpful as it could be, but as you reduce the number of candidates it may guide your eyes to the wing configuration.

Regards

Uploaded a minor revision to the program.

1) The Chain Filtering was returning too many Naked Pairs/Triples/Quads, making it hard to see the "wood for the trees". This new version has better targeting of these chains. Makes it much easier to find Nakeds and XY & XYZ Wings.

2) Improved the targeting for XY & XYZ hints. The first level hint text now identifies the Pivot cell. Makes it easier to find XY & XYZ wings.

3) Fixed a couple of missing pictures in the help text
