What puzzle size should Simple Sudoku be set at to produce "tournament standard" printed paper puzzles? |

The size that you adjust the GUI to has not effect on SS's printed puzzle sizes. Anyway, having said that, I'm not aware of any "tournament standard" puzzle size. |

Ah! I printed one out but did not try again after I changed the puzzle size on the screen.
In our local paper, a 9x9 is 69cm square. Not a lot of space for marking candidates.
I guess we haven't quite gotten to the standardization that a Staunton wieghted set does for chess tournaments. Perhaps we should poll and vote on a "tournament standard"? |

Newspaper puzzles, that I have seen, never have space for candidates.
The ones I try are easy enough that it doesn't matter.
(Ahem) It is possible that people at work use photo-copiers to blow-up puzzles that might be too difficult?
I have never seen it done, I am guessing! |

Does it affect the size of the image when one uses "Save Image As?"
(Sorry, I could test it, but I'm feeling lazy this AM.) |

Definitely. I sometimes use that feature when I want to copy an image to a forum. (I temporarily shrink the GUI so the image isn't so big that it dominates the forum.) |

I do have a suggestion for outdoor sudoku. |

Nice aerial view of your open field sudoku!
At last, something quite fathomable other than alien crop circle patterns.
This morning I had a "seeing but not knowing" moment. I asked Simple Sudoku for a hint. It proposed an X-Wing. I stared at it for a while and a little bit more. Then I looked up the advanced technique in the help file.
Finally, I found the square and candidate to eliminate. I have not done an X-Wing before this time. I've read about it, but never really applied it. Now that I "needed" it, it came to my understanding more easily.
I'm glad SS just did not "give it away:. Hopefully, I'll be able to see and do it on paper when the occasion arises. |
