I have a question about the color of the number 'buttons' where I can choose which number to highlight on the board (filter the board on selected number). I have some color blindness, and I cannot see the color you have chosen to highlight the number chosen. I am told you have a pale green. You allow for color preferences to be chosen by the player for most items in the game, but you do not allow for choosing a color on the number filtering buttons. Is this something that can be added easily? I love the game, but am challenged by not seeing what number I clicked on... Thanks

Hi katinka,

I guess you are using Simple Sudoku.

Maybe Angus will update his program for you, otherwise you could use SudoCue. In this program you can customize all colors, including the filter color.

You can download this free program at www.sudocue.net/download.php

cheers,
Ruud

katinka,

Do you have the latest version -- 4.2m -- of Simple Sudoku.

Go to Options > Color Preferences > General Colors...

and you'll find the feature you need. You may need assistance in locating and changing the colors.

Good Luck!

I am using Simple Sudoku, version 4.2m.

Under the color options, the 'filtered' color is for the squares that contain the selected number. I am referring to the 'buttons' 1 thru 9 across the top... press a 5, for example, and all the 5's on the board are colorized. My point is, when I press the original 5, it turns a pale green.

Even if the programmer does not want to open up the colorizing of these "filter by" buttons, maybe then just reverse the color... instead of a white background with black numbers, flip the color of the chosen filter button to black background with white numbers. I know that would be easier than letting the user control the colors chosen.

Ruud... I will have to look at this other version of Sudoku... altho I am partial to Simple Sudoku ! Thanks for the hint.

I'm afraid I don't understand what you're having difficulties with. Firstly, yes, you most certainly can change the color of filtered cells to your own color preference, just as you can change the coloring theme of all cells. Perhaps you're hoping that the color of the pressed filter 'buttons' at the top of Simple Sudoku will change to match your color preference for filtered cells? If so, then no that's not possible, but you can still see (ie if color blinded) the pressed outlines of those buttons which differentiates them from other non-pressed buttons.

I am NOT talking about the ALREADY filtered colors. I am talking about the 'FILTER BY' buttons along the top of the game, buttons labeled one thru nine. Go to the link shown below (I could not figure out how to include a picture in the forum). It is these one thru nine buttons at the top of the game board that I am referring to.

I am trying to include an internet link to a picture of the buttons in question, and the forum is blocking it.

OK, this should be posting @six, and my URL to show the buttons in question should be shown below:

FINALLY, we are now talking about the same buttons. Yes, I can see an ever so slight change in the button once I press it. But I have to stare at it for a couple of seconds to see the change.

I don't know what you do to make it 'change' the way it does. But instead of what is currently happening, maybe reverse the black/white. For example:

an UN-pressed filter by button is white background/black letters (the way it is now)
a PRESSED filter by button would change to be black background with white letters

How easy would it be for this change?

Strange that your background color doesn't even match what I'm seeing, also version 4.2m. Was there even a "filter digit" selected in the image you posted Question

When I click on a filter button, then yes, my filter buttons look just like yours. But I only see which one is filtered if I stare at it a while (my color blindness). I was just hoping for a more user-friendly way of displaying which button was pushed.

I noticed a new version of Simple Sudoku was available... I think someone changed it so that the 'filter by' number that I was asking about is now 'darker' in color. THANK YOU! It is easier to see for me. I LOVE this game, so thanks for helping out the little guy!
