Good work Puzzler ....
I haven't downloaded the software yet but I have 2 points to make:
1. Your post is better posted in the Software section.
2. Because your solver is called starfish sudoku, does it actually catch starfish (a.k.a. squirmbag a.k.a. 5-fish) ??

Thanks for the tip Tarek. I hadn't noticed the Software section.
I've moved the posts to the Software section.
Starfish refers to a story about a boy rescuing stranded Starfish. (Please see the helptext for more information), and this program is a "toe in the water" for what I hope can develop into a concept of "CharityWare".
It is my belief that the world is about to see the largest wave of charitable giving ever seen.
Thanks to a demographic anomaly in the form of the baby boom there are thousands of highly skilled, energetic, hardworking people who are retired or approaching retirement. After the obligatory cruise to Alaska and copious rounds of golf, many of these skilled individual are waking up to the realization that they have so much more to contribute, yet seem to have no outlet for their skills.
These are retired executives, skilled trades people, teachers, doctors, lawyers and, yes, computer programmers. These are people with tremendous skills who have drive, knowledge and, importantly – Time. They are the most underutilized resource any society has ever seen, and they have a burning NEED to do something meaningful with the time they have.
On the flip side, there are families struggling with basic issues like putting food on the table, elderly people that are unable to do simple home maintenance or drive themselves to the shops.
That’s where I’d like to help.
One the one side we have tens of thousands of people with a heartfelt need to give of themselves, and on the other, people who are hurting for the lack of a kind word.
I’d like to build a social networking site where people of all walks of life can offer their time, resources and skills to others.
I don’t have all the details yet, but I feel that with the expertise available, this is a doable project. Starfish Sudoku is a testbed to gauge reaction to the idea.
Cheers |
